Polo and Gin Make for a Spirited Combination
When it comes to the world of polo, two things can be expected: The players are dashingly bronzed, frequently endowed with fabulous manes of hair and names like Nacho and Adolfo; and the spirit of choice for spectators at any match is gin. From the Brit classic Pimm’s Cup to the G&T, it’s a perfect pairing— crisp, refreshing, and indubitably refined. Now, American polo star Nic Roldan (who boasts matinee idol looks himself) is aiming to make an impact on the gin scene stateside with High Goal Gin, a small-batch luxury spirit crafted in Charleston, S.C. Six times distilled and infused with a refreshing mix of botanicals—think Meyer lemon, mint, juniper, coriander, and cardamom—the product is the brainchild of Roldan and fellow polo aficionados Matti Christian Anttila and Diego Urrutia.
